Event details

Here is an opportunity to learn simple, complementary, portable techniques that you can take away and use at your desk, every day.

Stella Tomlinson will introduce you to:

  • Chair Yoga: Learn movements to tease out tightness from your neck, shoulders and back. This is a gentle style of yoga you can do from a (mostly) seated position that also incorporates the breathing and mind-body benefits of a traditional class.
  • Breathing Space: Learn to use your breath to calm your body and mind.

The combined session will run from 12.15 (prompt start please) to 13.00. We have the room until 14.00 so there will be an opportunity for follow-up questions and for socialising. Normal office clothing is fine. Drinks will be available through the session, with lunch available afterwards.

For staff normally based at our more urban campuses, Chilworth offers a contrasting, green environment just a few minutes away.

Numbers are limited for this session. To reserve your place, please go to http://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/chair-yoga-and-breathing-space-tickets-18257369283.  (After booking, you will receive a 'welcome' email. Should you need to cancel after booking, please follow the instructions in this email.)

This session is organised through the University Parents and Carers Network. Any remaining places may be offered to other members of staff.

How to find Alpha House

By car, Chilworth Science Park is about 10-15 minutes' drive from Highfield, Boldrewood and Avenue campuses. (Set your satnav to SO16 7QQ - not SO16 7NP which leads down a closed-off road.) Head for the roundabout at the north end of Bassett Avenue, and take the turning for Chilworth / North Baddesley / Romsey. Just after the Chilworth Arms pub [formerly the Clump] turn left into the Science Park. Enterprise Road is a turning on the left, off a mini-roundabout. See the downloadable map for parking options.

Alternately, Wheelers W1 bus runs from Southampton (stopping in Highfield Lane).  Alight at Chilworth Arms, with a 5 minute walk to the Science Park.
