Jan has two complementary roles in the Law School. She is the Senior Tutor and Careers and the Employability Co-ordinator.
As Senior Tutor she supports the personal academic tutors as well as being available to meet with students to discuss any issues affecting their academic progress.
As the Careers and Employability Co-ordinator she has responsibility for managing a wide and diverse range of events and activities to ensure positive graduate destinations for students in the School. These include the innovative Careers Programme and Employability Skills Lectures for second year students and the annual Law Fair.
She works closely with legal and non-legal employers interested in engaging with the School.
She is also responsible for managing the Reed Smith Placement Programme.
Jan was a committee member of the national Legal Professions Task Group of the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS) for nine years until 2021. In this role she fostered strong relationships with key players in the legal profession including the Bar Council, the Bar Standards Board, The Law Society and the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
