About
Dr Ben Anderson is Principal Research Fellow within the Energy & Climate Change Division of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Southampton.
Ben is currently developing a multi-funder portfolio of research projects with a particular focus on domestic water and energy demand. He is also a core member of the University's Sustainability Implementation Group who are tasked with leading and co-ordinating the delivery of the University's Sustainability Strategy.
Ben has provided advice and consultancy to the UK Departments for Business Energy & Industrial Strategy/Energy & Climate Change and Environment & Rural Affairs, the Scottish Government, Hampshire County Council, BRANZ (NZ), EECA (NZ), UK/NZ water/energy sector corporates and NGOs on patterns of domestic energy & water use. He has previously provided research consultancy to NGOs, corporate clients and governmental organisations including Ofcom, the Department of Health, the EU JRC, the UK Cabinet Office and the UK Parliament Welsh Affairs Committee on patterns and trends of ICT and media use.

Biography
Originally from a natural sciences background, Ben has a BSc in Biology and Computer Science (Southampton University, UK), a PhD in Computer Studies (Loughborough University, UK).
He has wide-ranging experience leading high quality research projects in the commercial and academic sectors during his roles with BT plc and the Universities of Loughborough, Essex, Southampton.
Ben held an an EU Marie Sklodowska-Curie Global Fellowship at the University of Otago's Centre for Sustainability from 2017-2020 before returning to the University of Southampton. He now splits his time between research and driving forward the University's Strategic Plan - Sustainability via a secondment to the University's Sustainability Implementation Group.
