Dr Steve Dorney BA MSc PhD
Director, Public Engagement with Research unit
Steve leads the Public Engagement with Research unit team.
He is an advocate for engaged research across all disciplines and has an academic background crossing both arts and sciences.
He returned to Southampton to work initially on a collaborative programme of acoustics engagement, for which he received an Institute of Acoustics award, and from there he has worked with colleagues in the University and the wider community to build public engagement capacity. Since 2016 he has been able to formalise this work through the PER unit.
He has previously worked in industry, education and the community sector and continues to be involved in an eclectic mix of projects and voluntary work outside PERu.
