Mrs Zena Hilton
Associate consultant

Zena is an associate of the Public Engagement with Research Unit, having worked on both Science & Engineering Festival and the early stages of Human Worlds Festival. She is currently living in Paris and works with the team on a consultancy basis.
Prior to her work with the Public Engagement unit, Zena spent nine years in Modern Languages, at the University, based in the LLAS Centre. She has worked on a range of language-based projects, including:
- Links into Languages - South East area project manager, building a training centre and network of local training centres, and a programme of more than 150 events.
- Routes into Languages - organising and leading local language outreach days for schools; and nationally working on communications, including materials/resources development
- LLAS Centre - Zena led on the 2014 Languages in Higher Education conference, and helped to launch the Southampton Language Opportunity, Intercultural Connections Southampton projects.
Before coming to the university, Zena worked for Southampton City Council, as part of the Adult and Community Learning team in the city coordinating Learning and Skills Council funded adult learning programmes. She also worked with schools on developing their community use.
