How to get involved

The call to participate in Southampton Arts and Humanities Festival 2021 as a contributor is NOW OPEN.

The Festival will run from Thursday 11 to Saturday 20 November and you will be able to contribute two different types of activities:

Southampton Arts and Humanities Digital will run through the whole length of the festival and will be accessible internationally. All digital content will be hosted on the official website: www.southamptonartshumfest.co.uk

Hands on Humanities Day is currently planned to take place at the Avenue Campus on Saturday 20 November, from 10:30 to 16:30. This will depend upon Government and University guidelines closer to the time.

This year exhibitors will also be able to contribute content to Black History Month (October), UK Disability History Month (18th Nov - 18th Dec) and LGBT+ History Month (February 2022) as we are welcoming relevant virtual events and activities to be featured on the Southampton Arts and Humanities Festival website before and after the event.

Outline of the registration process

Submissions for all activities are password protected, with a one-stage process for Southampton Arts and Humanities Digital (or other independent in-person events) and a three-stage process for Hands-on Humanities Day.

To make a submission, you will need to fill in the registration form available at www.humanworldsfestival.com/HOHD-registration

The information required at each of the stages, including ID and password, is detailed in the following documents:

After each submission, you will receive an automated confirmation email with a summary of your input immediately on completion.

More information for exhibitors are detailed in the new FAQs for Exhibitors document in the Useful Download section at the bottom of this page.

2021 Deadlines

Please note that there are firm deadlines for each of the stages. These are set in order for us to deliver the best experience possible for both exhibitors and visitors and make sure that all requirements and expectations are met for our venues too.

For researchers

If you are a researcher at the University of Southampton looking to showcase your project at Southampton Arts and Humanities Festival, please note that the internal call for contributors usually opens at the end of the summer.

An 'Exhibitor Registration' call will be posted on SUSSED, Staff Matters, on the Public Engagement Network (PEN) MS Teams channel and sent to the PEN mailing list. These internal communications will contain the log in details to submit your activity.

The call will also be announced on the PERu social media profiles, so follow #UoSArtsHumFest and @UoS_Engagement on TwitterFacebook and Instagram to stay in the loop.

If you wish to join the PE Network mailing list, please e-mail peru@southampton.ac.uk and include your Department and field of research if applicable.

For students

Students and student societies are more than welcome to submit relevant content to be included in the Festival programme. See the section above for more details regarding the registration call.

Students at the University of Southampton looking to volunteer alongside researchers or staff, or to be paid to work as a Student Ambassador are asked to get in touch by sending an e-mail to festival@southampton.ac.uk from the end of September or to check with their local Student Ambassador scheme.

For external exhibitors

This call is open to national and international collaborators of researchers at the University of Southampton, freelance artists, local cultural venues, schools, trusts and community groups.

To be among the first to find out when the exhibitors' registration open, sign up to the UoS Festival Exhibitors mailing list and start following #UoSArtsHumFest and @UoS_Engagement on TwitterFacebook and Instagram to remain updated.

If you are an external exhibitor hoping to engage with the public at Southampton Arts and Humanities Festival, please e-mail us at festival@southampton.ac.uk to further discuss your ideas.
