National recognition for Philosophy

Published: 20 July 2011

The Royal Institute of Philosophy, a charitable foundation, has appointed Philosophy at Southampton as its newest branch.

The Institute, which was founded in 1925, seeks to organise and promote the advancement of Philosophy through teaching, discussion and research. It sponsors public events throughout the country through its network of branches.

With the support of the Institute, Southampton’s philosophers will be able to build upon a programme of activities that already includes monthly lunchtime ‘Philosophy Cafés’ held at the John Hansard Gallery and an annual lecture series at the City Art Gallery.
