Southampton welcomes new Philosophy lecturer

Published: 23 May 2013
Dr Alex Gregory

We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Alex Gregory to a permanent Lectureship in Philosophy at Southampton.

Alex Gregory is coming to Southampton from The University of Reading, where he is a lecturer, and before that, a PhD student. His primary interests lie in ethics, especially in reasons for action, and desires, both of which seem to play an important role in explaining and justifying our behaviour. He also has interests in many other areas of ethics, especially value theory and wellbeing, as well as broader interests in many other areas of philosophy including the philosophy of mind, political philosophy, and metaphysics.

Alex is sure to make a fantastic contribution to our research and teaching activities.

This is the sixth new appointment made in the last three years and represents a further expansion of the department.
