Student Success

Published: 8 May 2013

Joanna Howe, Tomi Ajiboye, and James Ursell, all studying Philosophy at Southampton, belong to Enactus, a university-supported student initiative. Enactus Southampton has just won the organisation’s UK National Championship and will now be representing the United Kingdom in a worldwide competition.

Enactus is an organisation which aims to develop real business opportunities for individuals and communities in need. Among Southampton’s winning projects is ‘Find Your Path’, led by Philosophy’s Joanna Howe. To date, the project has involved working with an ex-military entrepreneur starting up his own locksmith business, helping him to develop effective marketing strategies and teaching him key financial skills. The project is aiming to expand next year to provide support to other ex-military men and women looking to run their own business.

Many congratulations to our students involved in this inspiring work.
