Southampton Welcomes Another New Lecturer

Published: 5 July 2013

We are very excited to announce the appointment of Dr Lee Walters to a permanent lectureship in Philosophy.

Lee completed his PhD at University College London and is presently a Fellow at Somerville College, University of Oxford. He specialises in metaphysics, philosophy of language, and philosophical logic, and will also contribute to one of Southampton's main areas of overlapping research expertise - aesthetics and the philosophy of art. Lee's paper, 'Repeatable Artworks as Created Types', was awarded the British Society of Aesthetics Essay Prize for 2012, and has since been published in the British Journal of Aesthetics. Lee will be drawing on his expertise in delivering a new module in the coming academic year on the philosophy of fiction.

This is the second permanent appointment this year, following the hire of Dr Alex Gregory, and represents a further expansion of the department.
