City Art Gallery Lectures Event

Philosophy asks fundamental questions about human life and the world we inhabit. What is the basic character of that world and what can we know of it? How do our minds relate to our bodies? Do we have choice over how we act? Or are our acts as determined as other events in nature? If we can choose, how ought we to act? What are ethical ways of living? As well as the great philosophers, the great religions have offered answers to that question; but do we have any reason to believe in a God?

This series of talks, given by members of the University of Southampton Philosophy Department, will present some of these fundamental questions and some of the attempts that philosophers over the centuries have made to answer them.

The talks will be held at 2pm at the City Art Gallery in Southampton, will last approximately 30 minutes and be followed by 30 minutes of discussion with the audience.
