Our common future
Dr Clare Saunders has been selected as one of 100 young scholars from around the world to help organise and participate in the Our Common Future Conference that will take place in November 2010 in Hanover and Essen.
The world faces a range of complex challenges at the start of the 21st century, associated with social, environmental, cultural and technological changes which are occurring at an unprecedented rate. The conference organisers believe that the best way of approaching these challenges is to get involved in actively confronting them, in developing new concepts and approaches, and in helping to shape them. The Our Common Future Conference will provide a platform for leading intellectuals, researchers, businesspeople and politicians, as well as a cross-section of young and future leaders, to enter into a dialogue on identifying major challenges ahead, presenting different perspectives on global issues, and on suggesting solutions for the future.
Dr Saunders will contribute to the Conference through its focus on climate change and energy research, and will participate in several preparatory meetings and web-based dialogue in the coming months.
