Bid Writing - Advanced

Bid Writing
Bid Writing

Target Audience: The advanced course is aimed at research and academic staff with some experience of funding applications, who would like to review and upgrade their approach. The course will include some challenge to established practices, applying new tools and techniques.

The session will use and share short sections of prior, or ongoing, submissions from participants (which ILIaD will ask participants to consider, select and provide in advance for tutor preparation).

In the first instance, participation in this course is through Faculty/Academic Unit nomination. If you wish to have more information please contact Lesley Porter on Ext: 23471 or email lp1v10@soton.ac.uk.

Brief Outline: The advanced course is delivered through a significant amount of text sharing, facilitated discussion and deconstruction of text sections. Participants will learn through self-scrutiny and from reviewing one another’s work in a structured way.

To aid the above, the course applies key elements and tools from BID4 PCOT framework, which deconstructs the research bid into four key areas for understanding, analysis and onward method progression.

The approach will help apply recent thinking in a field, which has (a) matured into a structured professional discipline since 2000; and (b) seen significant evolution, in a more challenging climate of funding since the downturn.
