Data Management Plans & Thesis Deposit: Briefing for PhD Supervisors

University regulations on what doctoral students need to do about their research data and materials has changed for 2019-20. This course will update you on those changes and what they mean for you as a supervisor. The Library will also cover the deposit process for theses and data, including embargo procedures and copyright requirements.

Course Description:

This session is for all PhD supervisors and will cover:

·         Data Management Plans
From 2019/2020 academic year, all new PhD students will have write and maintain a Data Management Plan for their research materials, which should be reviewed by their supervisory team before every progression review.

·         Depositing the final thesis and data
Overview of regulations for thesis embargos and copyright requirements for etheses. Data deposit and data embargos will become increasingly important as students registration from 2019/2020 onwards are also required to deposit their research data at the end of their degree and current students are also encouraged to deposit their data.
