Charlotte Winfield Postgraduate Diploma Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, 2013
High Intesity Cognitive Behavioural Therapist at NHS
Hi, I'm Charlotte Winfield and I studied a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy within Psychology at the University of Southampton.
Due to the skills and framework of the course, I’m in a really good position to be able to help others and I now have the confidence to move forward and make a difference.
Q: What did you like about the University of Southampton?
I have studied at the University of Southampton before and I really enjoyed it, it really feels like home to me.
Q: What did you enjoy about the Course?
There is so much to learn on the course. I learnt a lot about myself actually, it’s quite a reflective course. Working as a therapist you have to be able to understand yourself and how you will interact in a therapeutic relationship with others. I improved my understanding of the theory and background and gained skills which I was able to apply in a safer environment.
Q: What was your role as a Student Representative?
The main duty of the student representative role was to meet with the course team three times a year, once each term, to discuss any difficulties. I collated feedback from the student population of our course about things they felt could be improved, and then I would feed back to the staff in that meeting. I would also deliver the outcome of the meeting to the students. When other issues arose during the course, I collated the information in a succinct way to ensure that the problem was resolved.
Q: How can you apply your university experience to the working world?
There is so much I will take to the day job particuarly my continual professional development. Due to the skills and framework of the course, I’m in a really good position to be able to help others and I now have the confidence to move forward and make a difference.
