Hi, I'm Estere Kvelde and I studied Health Psychology within Psychology at the University of Southampton.

Studying for a master’s in a year is hard work but I have enjoyed the course and improved my English along the way. I particularly liked the chance to visit a hospital and a hospice to talk to patients.

Estere Kvelde from Latvia chose to study in Southampton for her master’s degree in Health Psychology because of the reputation of the School of Psychology. Always interested in relationships, she took her undergraduate degree at home but wanted the challenge of a higher degree in the UK.

“After my first degree, I worked as a trainer for a computer software company. The pay was good but I wanted more from my career and decided to continue with my studies,” she explains. The Times Good University Guide suggested Southampton to Estere and she was delighted to be accepted.

“Studying for a master’s in a year is hard work but I have enjoyed the course and improved my English along the way. Practical work in small groups was good and I particularly liked the chance to visit a hospital and a hospice to talk to patients,” she says.

Estere now plans to develop her skills and train as a psychotherapist back home.
