Why choose Psychology at Southampton?

On all measures of academic excellence the Psychology academic unit at Southampton has received rankings which place it among the leading centres in Britain in terms of research output and expertise. It has continued to receive high scores in the RAE exercises and it has received a CHE Excellence award for postgraduate studies. In terms of publications, the unit's output per capita is one of the highest in the country, and it also has a successful record of raising research funding and grants from organisations such as the ESRC and EPSRC.

Within the Psychology academic unit, we generally have well over 100 full- and part-time postgraduate research students, together forming a lively, close-knit but outward-looking community. Students from our postgraduate research programmes are complemented by those registered on one of our range of postgraduate taught programmes.

All postgraduates are supervised by a team of academic staff committed to high quality research and teaching, supported by an experienced administrative team. Some students have co-supervision from colleagues from other related disciplines such as Health Sciences, Medicine and Social Sciences.
