Senior Research Assistant on OPTIMA (On-Line Parent Training for the Initial Management of ADHD)

 

Ellen Hedström is a Senior Research Assistant within the Department of Psychology at Southampton University. Currently working on the On-Line Parent Training for the Initial Management of ADHD (OPTIMA) aimed at supporting parents with children who have ADHD and ODD. The project is a collaboration with King’s College London and Nottingham University. For more information click here.

Twenty years working with children and adolescents with neuropsychiatric disorders, working with children with substance misuse and working with indigenous youth with mental health problems in Canada. My passion is the continued support of families facing challenges to encourage positive parenting skills and ensuring young people get the support they need.

Research interests

The effect of stress on asylum-seeking parents to inform policy on reduced waiting times and promote better conditions for asylum seekers.

Neuropsychiatric Disorders in children and adolescents namely ADHD and ASD. Since 2000 I have worked extensively with children experiencing ADHD, ASD and ODD and am keen to get involved in research to further clinical understanding and support of young people.
