Dr Brettany K. Hartwell (Bee) is an Academic and Professional Tutor within the Psychology department at the University of Southampton and continues to practice as an Educational Psychologist for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council. Bee coordinates the third year of the doctorate in Educational Psychology, teaches across all 3 years of the course, and is a personal tutor and thesis supervisor. She also teaches on the undergraduate module, ’Introduction to Educational Psychology’.

Bee completed her first degree in Psychology and her Masters in Educational Psychology at the University of Southampton. She also holds a PGCE from Kingston University and a Doctorate in Educational Psychology from University College London.

Bee’s research and specialist interests include the regulation of attention and working memory, the impact of labels for children and young people, positive psychology approaches for Social, Emotional and Mental Health, participatory research with vulnerable groups of young people, perfectionism and nurture groups.

Bee is module lead for PYSC 8044 and PYSC 8046

She teaches on the following modules: PYSC 3057, PYSC 6070, PYSC 6071, PYSC 8041 and PYSC 8044.
