Philine is a Senior Research Assistant at the Centre for Clinical and Community Applications of Health Psychology, at the University of Southampton, UK.

She is currently working on the STREAM (Screening and TREAting Malnutrition) project, which is developing an intervention aimed at improving screening and treating malnutrition in older adults.

Philine is completing her PhD at the University of Sussex, Brighton, UK. Her doctoral thesis describes how self-affirmation – the act of reflecting on positive and valued self-aspects – can promote engagement with health risk information and encourage healthy behaviours. Her work has applied self-affirmation in a variety of health-related behaviours, such as alcohol consumption, physical activity and fruit and vegetable consumption and has examined potential cognitive and affective mechanisms of self-affirmation.

In previous roles, Philine has worked as a research assistant carrying out studies in the field of human attraction, and as a market research executive in healthcare, specialising in medical devices.
