Dr Sara Robertson is Visiting Research Fellow within Psychology at the University of Southampton.

I joined the University of Southampton in 2006 as an undergraduate student in Psychology and went on to complete an MSc in Research Methods in Psychology (2010) and a PhD in Psychology (2014). Since completing my doctoral studies, I have retained my affiliation with the university through a visiting fellowship. I also hold a teaching post at Christ Church, University of Oxford

Research interests

My research concerns the content and functions of nostalgia. I am primarily interested in the role of nostalgia in wellbeing, particularly during older adulthood or in those who perceive that they have limited time remaining in other domains of life. I also examine whether there are individual differences in those who stand to benefit most from nostalgia.
