Dr Thérèse Allan is Programme Director, MSc Foundations of Clinical Psychology; Academic Director of the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology within the Psychology Department at the University of Southampton.

I am a Principal Teaching Fellow in the Department of Psychology and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I am an HCPC registered Clinical psychologist and a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society.

I am an enthusiastic and flexible clinical psychologist with experience of working with people of all ages, backgrounds and cultures. I have a great interest in community development work and in using different media to promote the understanding of mental health, well-being and resilience to all sectors of society.

Research interests

I provide supervision to undergraduates and MSc students. Recent theses supervised include:

I am responsible for the design and running of the MSc Foundations of Clinical Psychology. I am responsible for ensuring that the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme meets QAA, BPS and HCPC standards and ensuring best practice in teaching and learning opportunities.

I work with the Associate Dean (International) to promote and implement the Strategy for Internationalisation within the Psychology Department.

I have been involved in running regular training courses for Health Visitors and members of the Voluntary Sector outside the University.

I am responsible for organising and contributing to teaching on clinical and leadership skills for the MSc Foundations of Clinical Psychology and the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
