Event details

The approach to cognitive-behavioral group treatment developed by Dr. Heimberg will be overviewed along with its evidentiary base.

Social phobia is the most common anxiety disorder, associated with significant impairment in social, educational, and occupational functioning. However, it is often overlooked or noted only when a comorbid disorder, such as depression or a substance use disorder has developed. Despite a number of challenges, social phobia can be understood and treated from a cognitive-behavioral perspective, often with quite satisfying results. In this workshop, participants will learn about the nature of social phobia, a conceptual model of the disorder, and the empirical data on which the model is based.
