Speaker information
Professor Robin Banerjee , University of Sussex. The CRESS research lab is led by Professor Robin Banerjee at the University of Sussex. We conduct investigations of children's social and emotional functioning, and work closely with practitioners and policymakers in the areas of education and mental health. CRESS research is based in the School of Psychology and is closely affiliated with Sussex's interdiscplinary Centre for Research in Childhood and Youth. Recent studies have examined the factors involved in peer acceptance and rejection, the social and cognitive processes involved in childhood social anxiety, and the connections between consumer culture, peer relationships, and well-being in school children. A core applied focus of the CRESS lab is the development and evaluation of school-based strategies to support pupils' social and emotional functioning. Our work has been supported by the Economic and Social Research Council, the Leverhulme Trust, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, and numerous Local Authorities and charitable organisations.
