This programme aimed to provide evidence-based research to improve the availability, quality, and efficiency of reproductive health services in resource poor environments.

Developed with the support of the UK Department for International Development (DFID), the goal of the Opportunities and Choices programme was to conduct operations research to provide evidence-based family planning and reproductive health service delivery in developing countries. The two main purposes of the knowledge programme were:

To increase the impact of existing reproductive health services through enhanced understanding of methods for improving their efficiency, effectiveness and quality of care.

To develop new mechanisms for providing reproductive health services to meet the needs of currently under served groups.
