Visual information is inherently ambiguous, yet the visual system has a remarkable ability to make sense of this incoming information to create a vivid and stable 3D representation of the outside world.
This programme of work is aimed at investigating exactly how the brain does this, with the goal of providing a description of visual processing.
We use a number of psychophysical techniques to create situations where the visual system is presented with more than one possible interpretation of a visual scene. By carefully studying the choices made by the visual system we can better understand how visual information is organized in the brain.
