Induction

We know how well you have done at school or sixth form college. Now we'd like to help you succeed at University as well.

We have an induction programme for all new undergraduate students, spread over three days in your first week. There will be around 190 new names and faces for us to get to know, from a wide range of backgrounds.  Everyone is different, but you will all share a passion for Psychology. These are some of the things that we'll be doing together:

• Put names to faces and faces to names, in your tutor groups and across the Year Group as a whole
• Explain how the School and University are structured, and how everything and everyone works together
• Introduce the really important staff and services available for you.

And, on a more academic front, we will:

• Explore with you what it means to study at degree level
• Give you hands-on experience of the University’s physical and electronic library resources
• Introduce your key skills module, “Thinking Psychologically” (PSYC 1005) through which you'll develop many of the key skills needed for success at University and beyond, plus the three other modules that you'll take in the first semester.

Above all, we aim to help you feel at home in Psychology.
