MoU signed between the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and University of Southampton

Public Policy|Southampton is excited to announce a new partnership between the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) and the University of Southampton.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and the University of Southampton which will link research projects to top level work with design, manufacturer and operation of autonomous ships and emissions reduction.

This partnership will connect maritime expertise with top level research programmes and will continue the drive to put the UK at the forefront of technology on maritime autonomy and emissions reduction.

Students from the university will be able to benefit from training, internships and PhD placements at the MCA and staff from the MCA will be guest speakers at the university on courses related to marine design or engineering.

Public Policy|Southampton (PPS) has been working in partnership with the MCA and the Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute (SMMI) to create knowledge exchange opportunities for University of Southampton staff and students through various placement opportunities. So far, PPS has organised three placement opportunities.
