Focussing on engaging with policy-makers, the seminar will invite both internal and external speakers to present different perspectives and approaches with a view to helping colleagues identify, generate and maximise impact opportunities. There will also be plenty of opportunity for open discussion with the speakers. All Faculty colleagues are welcome and encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be provided.

Gavin Costigan ,Public Policy| Southampton ,Gavin became the Director of Public Policy|Southampton in 2016 after working for six years as the Director of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office at the University of Southampton. As Director of Public Policy|Southampton he is continuing to develop the University’s external profile within Government, as well as ensuring the maximum impact from that engagement.
Professor Graeme Reid ,University College London,Graeme Reid is Professor of Science and Research Policy at UCL. He is also Chairman of the Campaign for Science and Engineering, a Trustee of the Association of Medical Research Charities and Strategic Advisor to the National Centre for Universities and Business. Until March 2014, he was Head of Research Funding in the Department of Business Innovation and Skills, where he had oversight of around £5 billion per annum of research spending through Research Councils and the Higher Education Funding Council for England. He coordinated the bid for the science budget in the coalition Government’s 2010 spending review.
Professor Will Jennings ,University of Southampton,Will Jennings is Professor of Political Science and Public Policy and Director of the Centre for Citizenship, Globalisation and Governance at the University of Southampton.
