Public Policy|Southampton is pleased to introduce a new policy focused training session in 2019 designed to support researchers at the University of Southampton and increase the impact of current research. This session will be delivered by John Young and Emily Hayter from INASP - International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications - an international development organization with over 25 years’ experience of working with a global network of partners in Africa, Latin America and Asia. John is the Executive Director of INASP with 35 years’ experience of working across the development sector, of which 15 in the field of research and communication, including as Head of the RAPID (Research and Policy in Development) programme at ODI. Emily is the Programme Specialist, who has 10 years' experience of working in the evidence to policy sphere in the UK and internationally. This unique session will build researchers’ skills and knowledge for policy engagement and will be focused on: •benefits of engaging with policymakers •skills needed to effectively engage with policy •what is a good evidence •presenting and communicating evidence
