Prevention in health and social care

The following 4 groups of academics' responses have submitted to the Health and Social Care Committee's inquiry of Prevention in health and social care:

''Improving preconception health to prevent ill-health and reduce disparities across generations'': Professor Keith Godfrey, Professor of Epidemiology and Human Development University of Southampton (kmg@mrc.soton.ac.uk); Professor Judith Stephenson, Professor of Sexual and Reproductive Health, University College London; Dr Danielle Schoenaker, Research Fellow, University of Southampton; Professor Nisreen Alwan, Professor of Public Health, University of Southampton; Dr Jennifer Hall, Clinical Associate Professor, University College London; Professor Mary Barker, Professor of Psychology and Behavioural Science, University of Southampton.

''Prevention of burdensome multiple long-term conditions among people of working age'': Dr Simon Fraser, Associate Professor of Public Health at the University of Southampton; Prof Nisreen Alwan, Professor of Public Health at the University of Southampton; Mrs Rebecca Wilkinson, Consultant in Public Health at Southampton City Council and part-time researcher at the University of Southampton.

''Why adolescence is a window of opportunity for prevention of non-communicable disease'': Dr Kathryn Woods-Townsend, Associate Professor and LifeLab Programme Manager, School of Healthcare Enterprise and Innovation, Faculty of Medicine, University of Southampton; Dr Ravita Taheem, Visiting Academic, NIHR Southampton Biomedical Research Centre, University of Southampton, Senior Public Health Practitioner, Southampton City Council; Prof Joanna Sofaer, Professor of Archaeology, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Southampton.
