Professor Kiki Messiou BEd, MEd, MSc, PhD

Kiki Messiou is Professor within Southampton Education School at the University of Southampton.  She is currently the Director of Research in Southampton Education School (Deputy Head of School).

Kiki joined the University of Southampton in October 2012. Her research interests are in the area of inclusive education and, in particular, in exploring children’s and young people’s voices to understand notions of marginalisation and develop inclusive practices in schools. She is particularly interested in research with children and young people and methodological issues related to this issue. These themes are the focus of her publications. This is summed up in the following statement in her book, ‘Confronting marginalisation in education: A framework for promoting inclusion’.

Professor Shelley Parr BSc; PGCert; PhD; PFHEA

Professor Shelley Parr is the Director of the Centre for Higher Education Practice at the University of Southampton. The Centre for Higher Education Practice (CHEP) was recently formed to transform the professional learning of staff and doctoral students for their academic activities, and Shelley is responsible for leading this change as well as developing and implementing a strategic plan for the new Centre.

Professor Anthony Kelly MA, HDE, MSc, MPhil, PhD, FInstP, FIMA, FAcSS

Professor Anthony Kelly is Professor of Education at the University of Southampton. He specialises in the theory of Educational Effectiveness and Improvement; in particular, as it relates to educational leadership, governance and policy analysis, in adapting Capability and Game Theoretic concepts to schooling, and in developing innovative quantitative approaches and mathematical modelling techniques for use in educational research.

Professor Janice Griffiths BSc, PGCE, MA(Ed), PhD

Professor Janice Griffiths is a Professorial Fellow in Education, Director of Enterprise and Director of the Mathematics and Science Learning Centre within Southampton Education School.

Dr. Nicola Pensiero

Nicola(Nic) Pensiero is a lecturer in quantitative education and social science at Southampton University School of Education.

Dr Kathryn Woods-Townsend BSc, MSc, PhD

Dr Kathryn Woods-Townsend is the LifeLab Programme Manager within Southampton Education School at the University of Southampton.

Professor Melanie Nind BEd, PhD

Melanie Nind, Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, is Professor of Education at the University of Southampton. She is also Director of the Centre for Research in Inclusion in the Southampton Education School. Melanie is Deputy Director of the South Coast Doctoral Training Partnership and one of the co-directors of the ESRC National Centre for Research Methods where she leads research on the pedagogy of research methods learning. She has been conferred with gold membership of the Asian Qualitative Research Association, for support of qualitative research development, and with an honorary doctorate from VID, Norway, for her contribution to science. She editor-in-chief of the British Journal of Learning Disabilities, past editor of International Journal of Research & Method in Education and on the editorial boards of European Journal of Special Needs Education and Disability and Society. Her recent research projects have focused on pedagogy and innovation in research methods and on quality in inclusive research. Melanie edits the Bloomsbury Research Methods for Education book series.
