The Regulations Governing Special Considerations and Suspension of Candidature for Postgraduate Research Students outline the policy and procedure that is to be followed when a research student makes a request for special consideration for extenuating circumstances (situations that are outside of a research student's control that they could not reasonably have foreseen and that have (or may in the future have) a negative effect are defined as extenuating circumstances) or makes a request for suspension of candidature unrelated to extenuating circumstances
Where there are extenuating circumstances, students may submit a request for:
Students who commenced their studies after 1 August 2016, should use PGR Manager to submit their request. Students who commenced their studies prior to this date should complete and submit the SC1 - Special Considerations Request Form to their Faculty Graduate School Office.
When a period of of suspension that is unrelated to extenuating circumstances is required (e.g. attendance at a fixed-term work placement that supports the research degree; parental leave; employment commitments (where an employer requires more time than usual to be dedicated to employment)), students who commenced their studies after 1 August 2016, should use PGR Manager to submit their request. Students who commenced their studies prior to this date should complete and submit the SC2 - Suspension of Candidature Request Form to their Faculty Graduate School Office.
