It’s never easy to come to a truly rational decision, but my choice of the world-leading Centre for Risk Research, was certainly a good start.

During the period of my study for an MSc in Risk and Finance at the University of Southampton (for which I obtained a distinction), I was deeply attracted to the area of behavioral finance, especially the impact of biased decisions by investors on price fluctuations. As a result, I decided to continue my PhD study here. With its access to rich resources of data, software, library facilities etc, the University of Southampton provides the ideal research environment and I am looking forward to exploring my potential alongside knowledgeable and experienced research fellows in the CRR.

My PhD supervisors, Professor Ming-Chien Sung, Dr Jeremy Eng-Tuck Cheah and Professor Johnnie Johnson are helping me explore my research interests, at the interface of behavioral finance and risk management. In particular, I am exploring how biased decision making by investors can impact price fluctuations in different financial markets and developing identify strategies to improve investment decisions.
