Currently an International Risk and Decision Making Consultant/ Trainer following on from a career managing projects in the high tech communications industry. Board member of the Institute of Risk Management and member of the Audit and Risk Committee.
Previous roles include Risk Manager for a Broadcast business. Business Unit Manager for a technology based test house. Senior Risk Consultant for a large management consultancy firm. Chief Engineer and Project Manager in communications industry (Including Military communications and 1st Generation civilian GSM).
With more than 20 years’ experience in problem solving, project and risk management at companies such as Arqiva, Strategic Thought, Robson Rhodes/Grant Thornton, and TüV PS/ Assessment Services.
Research interests in Decision Making and the management risk in emerging and fast changing situations
Published author of several practical risk management in guidance documents. Broad experience in risk management and decision making with practical delivery experience in Government, emergency services, broadcast, telecommunications, construction, rail, retail and defence sectors.

- International delivery of training courses in Risk Management and Decision Making
- Researched and developed the Risk Clockspeed approach. This remains the only real integration between affective and pre-planned risk management methods allowing organisations to have a much more realistic and comprehensive approach to managing risk
- Research and delivery of a decision making model and course for Hampshire Fire and Rescue
- Lecturer on MOD Project and Programme MSc run by Cranfield (Risk Management Module)
- First Chair of the IRM Technical Committee leading on Thought Leadership development
- Contributed to several chapters in the IRM’s industry leading Risk Culture document and the IRM’s Risk in Managing Risk in 21st Century Organisations. These practitioner level risk documents have proved very popular
- Author of the chapter on Decision Making in a book to be published by Kogan Page (expected Summer 2016)
- Member of editorial board for EDPACS (A Taylor Francis Journal: Audit Control and Security)
- Design and development of three risk software programmes. Two of which use web technology
- Project managed the technical development of the system for the UK Lab that undertook the first European wide GSM type approval test. Also chaired the international team validating the test system and software.
- Sole inventor on two technical patents solving problems in the testing of complex electronic systems
