Best paper award at international conference

Ming-Chien Sung and Johnnie Johnson received the best paper award ($1500) at the Second Asia Pacific Conference on Gambling & Commercial Gaming Research, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Decemeber 1-4, 2013.

The paper presented a new perspective on the 'weekend effect' using evidence from horserace betting markets. The conference attracted attendees from Asia, Europe, Australasia and America. David McDonald from the CRR also presented a well-received paper, which presented a generalised criterion for investors' optimal allocation of wealth among risky assets.
