The University of Southampton
The RUTI trial

Updates on the current status

The RUTI trial has been given provisional Ethical and MHRA approval that is contingent upon the results of testing the Chinese herbs being used in the trial and in providing final details relating to how the herbs will be encapsulated.

Once final approval has been given then approval will have to be gained from NHS Research and Development. Only after these final regulatory procedures have been met can we start to actively recruit participants for the RUTI trial.

It is anticipated that the trial will commence recruitment in London and Hove in September 2015 and in and around Southampton in November 2015.

A big welcome to our new clinical trial manager Kim Harman who has just started work on the RUTI trial.

26th January 2016-Open for Business!

We are delighted to report that the RUTI Trial has now received all the required regulatory approvals and we are now recruiting in and around Southampton, in the London area, and in Brighton and Hove.

You will need to belong to a GP practice that has chosen to recruit for the RUTI trial before you can be accepted on the trial. If your practice is involved then you will receive a letter from your GP informing you about the trial and an Information Sheet giving you further details and telling you exactly what the trial will involve and how to enrol in the trial

If you do not belong to one of these GP practices you could ask your GP to refer you to the trial and they can do so if they think it is appropriate. The best way to do this is to ask your GP to contact our trial manager, Kim Harman, by email at K.Harman@soton.ac.uk
