Professor Philip Prescott is an Emeritus Professor of Statistics within Southampton Statistical Sciences Research Institute at the University of Southampton.

Research interests

Development of robust statistical methods of data analysis, including robust regression and assessment of the effects of outliers and missing values. The effects of missing values in experimental designs, including balanced incomplete block designs (BIBD�s), Latin squares and cross-over designs. The design of mixture experiments, particularly orthogonal blocked designs and projection designs. Medical statistics including the analysis of clinical trials, particularly trials involving carry-over or residual effects in the assessment of treatments. The relationship between the incidence of fibrosing colonopathy and the availability of high-strength pancreatic enzyme supplements. The prediction of suicides from case records. The analysis of clinical trials involving complementary and alternative therapies.
