10 NIHR studentships for the MSc Statistics with Applications in Medicine

Published: 10 March 2016

Alan Kimber, Head of the Statistics Group in Mathematical Sciences, informs:

Nationally NIHR will fund 16 medical statistics MSc studentships per annum over the next 3 years. These were put out to tender before Christmas. I am delighted to report that the Southampton bid, led by Dr Stefanie Biedermann, was successful and has secured 10 of these studentships (3 in 16-17, 4 in 17-18 and 3 in 18-19) for our MSc in Statistics with Applications in Medicine.

In the feedback from the panel we received some very nice comments relating to course itself, the way it is run and the educational/research environment. In particular the panel said about the environment:

“The Panel deemed the host environment to be excellent. The environment is enhanced by bringing together all of the statisticians in Southampton under one umbrella - S3RI. The course therefore benefits from a broad mix of theoretical, methodological and applied academics in statistics.”
