Special issue of the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Series A in honour of Fred Smith and Chris Skinner

In Summer 2021 the University of Southampton and London School of Economics hosted an on-line conference in memory of Fred Smith and Chris Skinner.

Fred Smith and Chris Skinner, two giants of the world of survey statistics, had long careers at Southampton died in December 2019 and February 2020.  A selection of papers from the conference are in a special issue of the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society. Series A was edited by a pair of current Smiths in the Department of Social Statistics & Demography – Professor Paul Smith and Professor Peter Smith. Their Royal Statistical Society editorial papers from the conference are available to read. Our former colleague Tim Holt, instigated the conference and special issue. Unfortunately, Tim passed away suddenly before the special issue appeared.
