Abstract
The defining relation for regular fractional factorial designs provides for a convenient and useful description of the aliasing that exists between factorial effects. For orthogonal arrays that are not of this class, we explore how to usefully characterize aliasing. We consider design generators and defining relations for nonregular fractional factorials. However, a more useful characterization is based on "minimally dependent sets" of factorial effects. The talk will focus on three examples. For these examples, we discuss how such characterizations of the aliasing benefits data analysis.
