Joint NCRM S3RI seminar The Total Survey Error Framework in a Nutshell
The Total Survey Error (TSE) framework embodies the best principles, strategies, and approaches for minimizing the survey error from all sources within time, costs, and other constraints that may be imposed on the design. This framework rests on four pillars of survey methodology; viz. (a) design, (b) implementation, (c) evaluation, and (d) data analysis. This presentation will provide a brief introduction to the framework and illustrate some of the benefits of adopting it for quality improvement work. Topics covered include the following: - The evolution of the TSE framework, Total Survey Quality, and how they relate. - Planning and implementing surveys to reduce the effects of total error via adaptive design strategies. - Practical applications of the framework for continuously evaluating and improving the quality of survey products. - Current research to extend the framework to unified survey data and big data sources.
