Ms Sarah Lubman is Postgraduate research student within Social Statistics & Demography at the University of Southampton.
I have been a post graduate research student in the Department of Social Statistics and Demography since completing my Demography MSc at the University of Southampton in 2011. My research topic is Dispersal and deprivation: Asylum seekers in Britain since 1999. The aim is to assess the policy of dispersal which was introduced through the 1999 Immigration and Asylum Act. This includes analysis of the purpose of the policy and what it aimed to achieve as well as the process of implementation and the resulting outcomes, within the context of deprivation levels of receiving areas. This research applies both quantitative and qualitative methods.
