Invited Lecture: EU Equality Law after a Decade of Austerity

On the 25th of January 2019, Dr Sara Benedi Lahuerta gave the invited talk: “EU Equality Law after a Decade of Austerity” at the Seminar Series on Equalities, Citizenship and European Disintegration organized by Prof. Dagmar Schiek at Europa Universität Viadrina (Frankfurt am Oder, Germany).

This lecture exposed the dual movement of EU equality law between its progressive hybridization and the increasing articulation of equality objectives in terms of a “business case”, concluding that this development weakens the human rights character and the social mission of EU equality law.
