'The Freedom of Speech: Talk and Slavery in the Caribbean'

Professor Miles Ogborn is well known for his ground-breaking interdisciplinary research into historical spaces and globalisation. His publications include the wide-ranging and influential Spaces of Modernity: London's Geographies, 1680-1780 (1998) and Global Lives: Britain and the World, 1550-1800 (2008). He is currently exploring the relationships between talk, text and (un)freedom in the slave societies of the
Caribbean.

Following the lecture there will be a drinks reception in the cafe.
