A book launch and talk organised by the Southampton Centre for Eighteenth Century Studies and Chawton House Library.
Stephen Bending and Gillian Wright will be exploring the idea of retirement in seventeenth-century women's poetry and in eighteenth-century women's gardens. The talks celebrate the launch of two books from Cambridge University Press:
Stephen Bending's Green Retreats: Women, Gardens and Eighteenth-Century Culture and Gillian Wright's Producing Women's Poetry, 1600-1730: Text and Paratext, Manuscript and Print.
