Why Abolition?

What is this talk/activity about?

How human rights and a fear of revolution converged to bring about a defining moment in world history. This talk by Christer Petley, Professor of Atlantic History, is about the decision by the British parliament to abolish the slave trade, in 1807: a defining moment in the histories of slavery and of empire, the legacies of which continue to shape lives and provoke debate in our own times.
