There are some very interesting and as yet unsolved mathematical questions that can be stated using only arithmetic (addition, multiplication, exponentiation). In this talk, I go through a few of my favourites among these questions, so using arithmetic to go beyond the bounds of human knowledge.

Why is this important?

Exploring seemingly simple questions can take us in strange and unusual directions. By exploring the unknowns among the things we think we understand, like arithmetic, we begin to get a sense of the true wonder and complexity of the world around us.
