Everist article wins 2011 Slim Prize

Published: 18 November 2011

At the awards ceremony in San Francisco on 12 November, the American Musicological Society presented the H. Colin Slim Award to Southampton's Professor Mark Everist for his article 'Grand opera-petit opera: Parisian Opera and Ballet from the Restoration to the Second Empire'. The article was published in 19th-Century Music 33 (2010), 195-231.

The award 'honors each year a musicological article of exceptional merit, published during the previous year (2010) in any language and in any country by a scholar who is past the early stages of her or his career'. Everist is the first non-American to receive the prize, and it follows his receipt in 2010 of the Society's Ruth A. Solie award for the book Music, Theater, and Cultural Transfer: Paris 1830-1914.
