English lecturer wins AHRC grant
Mary Hammond has been awarded an AHRC fellowship for research into book history.
Dr Mary Hammond, a Senior Lecturer in the English Department working on nineteenth-century literature and culture, with a special interest in book history, has been awarded a 9-month AHRC Fellowship to pursue 'A publishing and reception history of Charles Dickens' Great Expectations 1860-2012'. She hopes to make a trip to the US and to several UK locations to do archival research for this project, to write a book for Ashgate, and to run a one-day workshop on 'Teaching Dickens as local history' for schoolteachers in 2013.
